Nayagaon murder: Victim’s body cremated, no arrest so far

Amit Kumar was injured on June 15 after some people allegedly attacked his cousin Ritu at their residence at Janta Colony in Nayagaon.

Two days after the death of a victim from injuries in a brawl, the body was cremated on Tuesday after the completion of postmortem. Meanwhile, no arrest had been made by police so far. The officials said the raids were on to nab the accused.

Amit Kumar was injured on June 15 after some people allegedly attacked his cousin Ritu at their residence at Janta Colony in Nayagaon. Amit was admitted to Government Multi-Speciality Hospital (GMSH) at Sector 16 from where he was referred to PGI, where he succumbed to his injuries on Sunday.

Ritu told the police that she was attacked by her neighbours including Ram Sanjeevan, Mahadev, Shehdev and around three women. Accused Ram is a dismissed Punjab police personnel. The brawl had taken place over a family dispute between the families of Ritu and Ram.
