SC refuses to stay HC order allowing arrested minister Senthil Balaji’s shift to private hospital

The Supreme Court Wednesday refused to stay a Madras High Court order allowing Tamil Nadu Minister Senthil Balaji to be moved to a private hospital.

Balaji was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in a cash-for-jobs scam last week, following which he was admitted to a government hospital for chest pain. He was later shifted to a private facility following a court order.

Balaji, who is currently serving as the Electricity Minister in the DMK government, underwent a beating heart coronary artery bypass surgery earlier today. He is hemodynamically stable and is being monitored, said a PTI report quoting a medical bulletin by Chennai-based Kauvery Hospital.
